Finished quilting and binding my Grandson's quilt - This is what he learned how to sew and help me make - A beautiful memory we both have. He named it "Sounds of Music" quite appropriately.

This next is the 1st quilt I'm keeping. There's a free pattern on Coats and Clark (though I used it for thought rather than exact instructions). I put a boring brown print on the back which is my husband's side of this quilt, the bright side is for me. I used the warm and natural cotton batting and this got tugged a bazillion times through the throat of my sewing machine (and thanks to Spray Basting), there's not a wrinkle or pinch on the backing Yahooo! With all the lines it took over a week of quilting, but I'm very happy with this.

Thank you for looking :-Debbie

Around the World

Used what I call Chicken Track stitches to attach the binding -- THANK you Sharon for the Tip - Back on first, then the front - wow worked so much better :-)

The boring back side for my husband

Wow, very nice. Your husband is not boring, just needed something to calm him down from the very bright front side and the brown is a good choice. It also give you a visual change if you want to change anything in the bedroom color scheme.

I LOVE! that around the world quilt!

Your grandson's quilt is just awesome too. Still think that is the COOLEST thing that he wanted to make a quilt with you.

I want to try that binding technique!

I do EASY bindings!!! Most are cut at least 2 1/2" then ironed in half right sides out --- While I do pin ahead of time, when I get to the mitered corners I've left extra do make the easy ones.

Sharon said sew them on the BACK first, then you can SEE what your doing on the front *duh* Now I don't have to worry about "catching" the backing or front side, just use any stitch on the front and it's already sew on the back yahoo!

Thank you!! It was almost peaceful quilting line after line after line - The middle I began and stayed within a foot width, then DAYS later that got a bit boring LOL so I would choose - ok only 4 lines in this color, 6 in the next whatever.

Isn't it great where you get to chose the colors as they go around and around - and no pattern to worry about! Almost the only free quilt on Coats and Clark I liked.

Thanks all :-) Debbie
