Hi Quilters,
I can find information on how to hand quilt and needle turn applique...my new love...but I am not finding the spacing for the rows of hand quilting stitches... Is it a random width between stitching rows or is there a spacing that is mainly used all the time. Thank you...
Cheryl

Hey, Cheryl! Good to see you.

Spacing depends in the batting. The package usually lists the maximum spacing. I usually aim for 10-12 stitches per inch, and most batting will allow 4" between lines of quilting. I often stitch in the ditch by machine, then hand quilt.

Depends on the design and the batting.

Echo quilting is usually 1/4- 1/3 inch spacing.

Utility quilting is longer stitches using embroidery floss or perle cottons.

Thank you Bessiemae...

I am working on what is called primitive needleturn applique... everything is explained except the quilting part... I will be using #8 perle cotton.
