I had the most delightful day sewing with 2 friends today. It reminds me how nice it is to share my love of sewing with others. We took an old utility quilt that was heavily soiled and tattered, looked like it belonged in a rag bag, salvaged what we could, and turned it into an adorable new quilt top. If you would like to see our results, here is the link

That is so nice. Makes me wonder what I could do with my children's quilts my Mom made for them so many years ago - they are falling apart all over, but you never know. Thanks for sharing this.

Oh how NICE!

The quilt AND the experience.

Great idea, I have always loved a quilting bee, and have met many new friends through them....Also some very old friends too.
My mother told me that I (b.1949)was learning to sit up when she was learning to quilt.

This was made like the pattern Bright Hope from Smith Street Designs. Here is the link but I will tell you I did the embroidery machine appliques by my own tecnique which was easier than what the directions suggested. I love this pattern and the quilt goes together so easily.

Isn't it wonderful that we can remember sitting at our mother's feet while she sewed and that we sew with our children at our feet. What a legacy we pass on.
