I thought this would be therapeutic. I am in a hotel having the free breakfast, waiting until its time to go to my Moms funeral visitation. Not only was she the best Mom, but she passed on her love of sewing to both me and my sister. She was 85 and in poor health, but until the end she kept telling me she needed to get stronger to come home because she wanted to "sew something fun to wear". She was a great fashionista, seamstress, and homemaker. Both her daughters earned college degrees in home ec./fashion merchandising. I will be forever grateful to her for my lifelong hobby and passion. Her obit in the paper also tributes her fine sewing skills. Life is short, pass on your love of sewing to the next generation like my Mom. Rest in peace, Mom.

So sorry for your loss. Sounds like she will always have a special place in your heart especially when you are sewing.

So sorry for your loss. How wonderful to have such great memories...

Like you, I shared sewing with my mom. It is among the many gifts with which she has filled my life. How can we not miss these special women? And, as with any special relationship, all we can do is be grateful for the time we have had because there would never have been "enough" time.

I am adding my sympathy to you and your family. Your mom gave you a fantastic gift in the love of sewing. As time goes on you will think of her in 1000s ways as you sew and see things that inspire you through her. I have a tiny pair of scissors that look like a bird that I found while clearing out mom's house and love having them by my machine. Hugs to all of you at this most difficult time

Tarrbaby you have my deepest symphtomy. I lost my mom 4 years ago. I stayed with her the last three months of her life. We didn't always have the best relationship but we were able to use our love of sewing to find a middle ground.

My condolences to you on the loss of your mother. My mom's sister was the one who started me on the path to sewing. Mom knew how to sew, but it was just utilitarian for her.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have tears in my eyes as I type this - I also got my love of sewing from my mom and it is such a wonderful gift. You are right, we all need to pass on our love of sewing to others.
