Hi, WhatSew! Were you able to at least start on the project?

I'm not a moderator but I saw your post and wanted to respond. Is there another contest you might want to enter? There are 20 in all this year and I bet you will find one you like!

I, myself, only enter a contest once I've finished the project because I know I will get upset if I don't complete it. But that's just me. I don't think it would bother most people.

Right now there is a Pattern Stash contest running until the end of April. That might be a good one to join. I wonder if it might work for you?

I think of myself as a timid sewer, so I understand the comment, "I'm a total chicken." And I'm definitely a procrastinator. But I do know, with lots of encouragement and practice, I'm getting less scared and also I don't procrastinate as much (with sewing,at least--I think I'm just kind of built to procrastinate).

Good luck with your sewing! I hope you are able to jump right in and take a chance.

Oh, you're not alone. I've entered two contests but only entered one completed garment - no more entering contests for me unless I've made the garment!

I am a complete professional when it comes to procrastination.

C'mon over to the Slow Sewists Sew Along! LOL

I had a plan - and even made 3 partial muslins - for the fitted blouse contest. Nope, no go. But that was closer than the mini-wardrobe last year. I had 3 different plans (all of which included fabric and patterns I already owned), and I still don't have a single piece from any of them, lol. But I did make a couple blouses from 2 of the fabrics for the OPML contest.

I also don't enter the contest until my "object" for it is completed. (I say object because I have entered bags and a pillow as well as garments.) But I participate in the thread - mostly because I can learn from it.

Yes, I will be entering more contests - but I will PLAN my projects so I will finish on time. I really like the contests and reviews, puts a realistic deadline. Setting goals, meeting deadlines equals beautiful fitted clothes.

Tigergirl, you might want to join us over on the tortoise thread. You'd be very welcome indeed.

P.S. Great idea about not entering a contest until the garment is made. I should use this approach too, and save myself embarrassment, lol.

If you haven't cut into your fabric (just prepped is OK), and all you did was muslin the pattern, you may still be able to use it for a future contest! LOL

If you partially sewed it, maybe it can be used for a UFO contest, lol. (I'm not sure what the rules are on a UFO re: how long ago it was put down.)
