I am planning to make S2703 dress view from this very painterly Nani Iro floral double gauze. I thought I'd like some kind of jacket or cardigan to wear with it when I don't want to be so bare and out at fabric row today I stumbled on a piece of rose colored linen that couldn't be a better match if you custom milled it. However, they turned the store upside down and only had the one piece. It's 33" and 54" wide. Such a good match, I snatched it up even if I can only make a scarf with it.

But I'm thinking maybe I could eek out some kind of tiny sleeved bolero or shrug. Does anyone know a pattern?

Pretty fabric! Fabric.com had a free shrug pattern on it's website, that you can print off. Not sure the yardage but I'm sure it can be altered.

Why not cut a slit down the middle of the shortest side, halfway, and make it into a poncho/kimono style jacket?

Oh my gosh!! I've been drooling over this fabric for the last week. That's what happens when we procrastinate.

I hope you find something that works for this piece.

I had it pinned for a while then snatched it up from Harts when they had their Black Friday sale. It's so soft and lovely you just want to wrap yourself in it and go to sleep. The only thing stopping me from making it a nightgown is the cost. Oh, and I'd probably find even harder to get out of bed than I do now!

If you have a knit top that already fits you, it's easy to make your own from that pattern. I copied the CAbi arm warmers and came up with this tutorial on my blog: How to make the CAbi Ballet Arm Warmers

Simplicity 1780 is a really good basic bolero pattern. There are two lengths of jackets, with both long and short-sleeved views. It does run a bit large, so be aware of that (I made one size down and it was perfect).

Edited to add: You shouldn't have any problem making the short-sleeved views with less than a yard of fabric - though you would need to use the sleeves from the lining pattern (they're plain, rather than pleated) and leave the ruffles off of view G.

Jalie just released a maxi dress pattern that also has a bolero shrug pattern in it.
