I copied a purse that has a bowl shaped curve and zips closed at the top. I used a purse zipper hoping to have a more durable zipper. The zipper has a wave to it and when open is a little difficult to close. I clipped the curve when I installed it, what else could I have done so that the zipper was flat?

Do you have a pic or a link to the pattern? I am having a hard time visualizing this.

I hope this link works. It took me a while to figure this out. You will see that the zipper is curvy, not straight. I clipped the curve of the bag before sewing the zipper in and when the bag is closed it looks good but open, you can see that its curvy.

I think your link should be http://www.dropbox.com/u/103527115/photo%20%283%29.JPG ?

I see what you mean. I'll watch for the experts input. Interesting problem.

Maybe you needed to sew it closer to the teeth?

ETA: Actually, I just googled it and I saw lots of advice to the effect that especially with a zipper on the bias, you should stabilize the seam allowances for the zipper. Possibly due to the curve you need to stabilize it before installation.

Here is a link for how to shape a zipper.

And, here is another.

I would definitely interface the zipper area.

I can't see the photo but definitely interface the zipper area. It's probably a little late for that on this purse?
