I did it!!! I finished the two story faux silk drapes AND I sewed them with the interliner and liner. Boy are they heavy!

I can't thank you enough for your advice and encouragement which helped me make it through this project. I can't believe how much I've learned after sewing these panels. I swear there isn't a thing that I can't sew now. Thank you again to those of you who responded to my original post and helped me through.

Holy cow! That is some length! And that's a great idea to cover both windows, pulling them open and closed when you need to.

Nicely done. I think you deserve an entire tray of margaritas for having persisted with this enormous project and finished it so well.

I have to agree with the comments above. You did a beautiful job! I can't imagine handling that much fabric. I think we need an *atta girl* emoticon here

What an inspiration!!! I have a 15' X15' wall of windows that really needs the same treatment. I think I will do a sheer to just diffuse the sun. You have given me encouragement!!! I am most impressed. Lovely home...yes, yes..

Aww thank you for the kind words! I'm blushing. I installed the brackets, cut the rods down to size, drilled new holes for the finials, sewed the drapes and climbed the ladder (probably 20 times) to install the drapes. I ended up getting one drape installed but then I took it down again and redid the header. Originally, I left the interlining and lining in the header, but it was just too bulky and the pleats looked floppy. So I took the panel down, cut the interlining off at the heading and used buckram instead. Made a huge difference IMO. These panels will be stationary and are for decorative purposes only. The faux silk fabric was a HUGE pain in the butt to work with though.

My next project is to rip out the carpeting in this room and install hardwood planks. Yes, I'll be installing the hardwood flooring by myself. Then after that, my next project will be sewing valances for the dining room. I'm thinking empire valances. I'll keep you posted.

Thank you again for the pat on the back. It made my day.
