This is an on going wireless printer problem.
The printer setup shows that the printer is talking to the router.
The laptop is talking to the router.
Untill this morning everyone was talking with everyone else.
Now the laptop has stoped talking to the printer. Refuses to acknowledge there is even a printer sitting across the room from it.

I deleted the printer and installed it again this time as a USB printer so I can at least connect the cable to the laptop and print stuff.

Maybe I need to buy a new router?
I bought a new printer and things were working so well for abotu a month now I am back to where I was before I bought the new printer.

I think they need to see a Tech Psychologist.

What brand of printer do you have? I finally got the whole Tech Family speaking to each other, even the tablet to the printer, but it involved uninstalling the printer from the laptop at least once. Our router is older, but maybe you do need a new one.

I don't think the router is the problem. Did you have any windows updates installed right before it quit? or a printer update? that would be my first 2 things to check. also, google your printer and OS, one or the other companies may have something.

such as google "company inkhog windows 7 not connecting"

My once working WiFi printer now won't work even with a connecting cord.

It does print with WiFi for DH's laptop, iPod, and PC, as well as his machines at work.

I know longer speak to that printer because I've just quit.

But I wish you the best!

I'm a Mac user. I don't print a lot, but use an Epson WF-7010 printer, connected via Ethernet to my Router. No muss, no fuss. Just like my ipad, my mac, and various other things, it has an IP address, and any device on my network, with the proper drivers can print to it.

Now, my Mom, (who knows more Fortran than I do, so don't get any funny ideas about technical skill...) asked me to set up her wireless Epson printer (which like mine, has a ethernet port, but is also wireless). She has Windows 7.

Windows 7 (and MacOSX) support a thing called "print sharing". It's designed so that networks can share a printer that doesn't know how to connect to the network. Basically, a user connects the printer to a windows computer (we'll call it a host) using a USB cable, and all the other computers on the network can print to that printer. The host receives the print request, and sends it off to the printer.

Turn off the host, and none of the other computers can print.

The problem my Mom had was that she was trying to connect to the printer as if it was a "shared printer" and not as if was a "network printer". I'm thousands of miles away from her network, and don't have Windows 7, though.

Maybe this will help

I turned off our router once and lost the wifi connection to the printer. I did finally figure out how to reconnect them.

But the thing I had to learn about our new HP printer is that I need to install the drivers on each computer. At least that works. Maybe not elegant, but it works. Win 7 here on all computers.
