Hello out there! I want to have my purse straps replaced. I bought a "gently used" leather purse for a ridiculously cheap price! I do need to replace the straps and was wondering if anyone has suggestions of where to go to find such a thing.. If it helps I do live in the SF Bay area, I just never thought of finding leather before today.
Thanks for your suggestions!!

Tandy leather is a good place to start. I dont know if any of these are close to you though. You can also order from them online; I love their customer service!

How about a thrift store to purchase a leather coat and cut into straps?
If you want already-made straps, Homestead Heirlooms has a wonderful selection.

Ebay is your friend. I can't link to ebay from work, but search "leather hides" and you'll find a trove of stuff. A lot of vendors are less expensive and equal in reputation to some of the better-known leather distributors. I bought some sheepskin in black from "seymourssi" and was VERY pleased with the quality. NAYY, etc.

Hi Jenn- if you're looking for soft thinner leather try Fabric Outlet in the Mission. Their hides are all 50% off and they have a good range of fashion colors plus the classics. It's next to the big Thrift Town on Mission at 17th. You can also pop in there to look for leather items that could transform into your strap.
