Okay,
I know there is alot of FBA info on here, however, I still can not find a definate answer to my question. My question is this ~ My daughter is a 32 F in Bra, but she would be a 30B for the garment bust size ~ right???

My daughters mesurements are :
High Bust 30.5
Bust 32
Under Bust 26

Ladies chime in now if I'm wrong, but with just 2 inches in difference between full bust and high bust, I wouldn't think a FBA would be required.

My dd's bra size is a 32 DD, But she has only a 2" difference between her upper bust size and her bust size. She has a muscular back and upper chest from rock climbing. I made her a blouse recently choosing the size by her full bust measurement and adding a 1/2" fba. It worked perfectly and wasn't too tight across her back. I did have to narrow her cross bust because she is, like your dd, petite. Make a muslin.

Thank you Halley,

I just needed to be sure that my thinking was correct before I cut anything. It was confusing that a full bust doesn't mean a full bust in patterns. Thanks again.

Thanks Nancy,

I will consider a muslin. I am not fond of doing them, but don't want to waste my fabric either.

You may need to bring the bodice back in under her bust, you may find that the larger size up top, makes the bottom too big.

My dd is a 30 H cup, I have to take in her clothes a lot under her bust, other wise she may as well wear a tent. Meg is only 14 and still growing up top. I hope she stops soon.

I used her high bust to ensure the shoulders fit, then to a fba to accommodate her bust, then bring in everything under the bust.

With onlyb2" difference between high and full bust, she shouldn't need an fba. I like to tissue fit to get a ball park of how much/little fba I need, because the fba needs to be done in the flat pattern stage. Then I muslin to tweak the fit.

If her under bust measures 26 and full bust is 32, it sounds like she might be in the wrong size bra. Shouldn't she be more like a 26 in the band? Or whatever the smallest size they make is.
