Am I the only one who looks around on the internet and finds a beautiful picture of a cardigan, sweater or tank and when you click on the picture you find out it isn't in English? I find myself liking their work a lot better than what I find in the magazines I can buy here in the US. I would buy online but I'm a little nervous of that. Anyone buy any of the magazines written in these different languages? Do they have illustrations so that you really don't need to read their language. Any ideas on how to get these beautiful designs?

Are you a member of Ravelry.com? They offer patterns from various parts of the world, in different language and some are translated into English. Some are for purchase, some are free.

I'm not good at reading charts, so I want printed patterns. I run into enough problems, without having the language ones added to them.

Thank you for your suggestion. I am a member and I did do a search. I came up with about 3 patterns from the Duplet magazine. I guess I was looking for quite a few to choose from or a source to buy the magazine in the us. The patterns I see a lot of times are just plain compared to the ones I see in the Duplet magazine, and if I'm going to spend a lot of time on one, I want it to be striking and I think theirs are really striking.

One thing to consider when you do get a crochet pattern from another country, you need to get a dictionary of their crochet terms. They are different Some call a Single crochet a Double crochet etc. Japanese are the easiest to translate for they use a graphic chart and describe every stitch used. Where some don't give you the connecting chain joins etc.
