I patch a lot of blue jeans and I found the perfect Denim color in Coats & Clark at Walmart, but I really prefer Gutermann thread. When I ordered from Wawak, I asked and they said #315, but that isn't close. Can anyone advise me which Gutermann would be closest? I don't do enough sewing to justify the $23 thread chart.
I found the Coats & Clark on Amazon also and posted the link.
Thank you all!

Did you mean #215, French Blue?

Why? This is for your patching. You can find C &C jeans thread at just about any place that sells fabric and on the notions wall where crafting supplies are sold.

Gutermann has jeans thread.

Unfortunately Wawak and retailers use different number systems for Gutermann. #315 is a very deep blue/indigo in the Wawak system. Advising you on a thread color is difficult because it depends on the wash of your jeans, which is probably why they recommended the color they did. If you ask Wawak's customer service they will send you a free printed color chart that may be more accurate than your monitor. However, the C&C thread looks variegated and I don't think Wawak sells one like that for Gutermann.

Thanks for all the replies.
I received the #315 which is a dark blue/Indigo. Rhey, thanks for the suggestion of asking for a printed sheet from Wawak.

Perhaps the French Blue would be closer to what I need.

I will look at Joanns next time for the Gutermann Jeans Thread. Thanks for the link PattyAnnJ

You can check out American and Efird. they have a whole lot of threads that can be used for Jeans. You can filter down the options:

I use a dark wash denim for jeans and the thread you showed wouldn't match at all. Remember that thread should be a shade darker than the material you are sewing on. Are you sewing on the outside of the pants? Or are you sewing seams? Because if you are just repairing seams you'll never see the color anyway.

Since the C&C denim is multi-coloured, I couldn't find a perfect match against the Gutermann thread chart, but these samples came the closest.

9110 - matching the darker hues
5226 - matching the lighter hues
and 95 - a tad lighter than 9110.

In daylight, my C&C denim thread looks like it has more of a navy/violet cast to it than the truer blues (like Gutermann 315). IMHO I think the above Guttermann's match the hues of the C&C denim thread the best, but they are all solid colours, so the lightest *silvery* parts of the CC denim thread will still stand out. HTH's

...and I agree, the CC denim is great for patching (it blends well) in many of the jeans, though there are so many different hues of denim nowadays, it's getting harder and harder to match.

Just checked Sears.com and typed in search Gutermann jean thread indigo blue...showed a 876 yard spool for 7.49...did not check shipping cost. Sorry I never learned how to make a link. It's a pretty light blue jean color.

Well...just checked another site and it's Gutermann Indigo is a much different color than the Sears Gutermann Indigo Blue...hmm...not seeing any # to compare...but that one seems like the dark indigo blue #315 you mentioned getting from elsewhere. It would not be good if ordered the Sears thread and it arrived looking dark like the one you just received.

Also...check createforless.com...type Gutermann thread blue
in search and many shades of blue Gutermann threads are available there...online colors can be much different than colors in person...hope you can find the color you want.

Edited to add: Just checked joann.com and Gutermann natural cotton is in indigo blue and looks like the color on sears.com and it's on sale for 40% off...if you have a joann's near you might be able to get it in-store and not have to pay shipping and will be able to see the color in person.

If you look online at joann.com type in search Gutermann natural cotton thread...then click on the + at the bottom left corner of the thumb nail pic of indigo blue #2003606 to see a close up of the color. The large main pic showing already is a grey color...so don't go by that pic.

Wow...just checked fabric.com and the online pic of Gutermann Indigo Blue appears a darker color from the Sears and Joann color...but a lighter color than the other sites I checked at...so as I mentioned before online color pics are not very accurate. I sure do wish there was a consistent color code # available from each site.

Last site I checked showed #5624 as the color code # that goes with the name Gutermann natural cotton thread Indigo Blue.

LOL...don't know if you even want Indigo Blue...

Some how this became a quest and I couldn't stop looking...wow...got to go get a cup of tea now.

Thanks for this info. I sent them an email & asked for one and they are sending it right out.
