I have already made two pairs of pants from the wonderful StyleArc Linda pattern, and am about to start a third,. My only problem is that after the waistband is attached, the raw edges of the seam remain unfinished. I am trying to figure out a way of finishing those edges without adding bulk. All suggestions gratefully accepted.

I'm not familiar with the pattern, but I grade my seam allowances at the waistband when I'm working with bulky fabrics.

I don't know the pattern, but is it possible to turn them to the inside and stitch in the ditch on the outside? Or how about finishing the raw edges with bias binding...

I've made these in a lightweight stretch denim several times now. Serging the waistband seam after it is attached to pants, then pressing down works best for me. I've recently serged the seam, pressed toward waistband & topstitched. The thickness of your material would be a consideration.

Thanks all. I don't yet know how to use the serger I just bought, but will keep that option in mind. The top stitching and bias tape sound like good options for the moment.

Or you could overcast the edges using your sewing machine. On my Singer I had the overcast serge stitch, and on my Janome I have an overcast foot. You can use a wide zig zag stitch

I am not familiar with this particular pattern but I like to cover the edge with a bias strip of chiffon, poly or silk. I use the Hong Kong seam technique and then I stitch in the ditch all around.
