And I'm hoping you PR space-planning gurus can help me out! I need a new side table for the spot where I do all my handwork. I'm sorry to part with the one I have now, but it's just outlived its usefulness, I'm afraid. I'm looking for something with a large surface area (current table is about 25" diameter), lots of interior storage, and, if possible, a small drawer where I can keep items like scissors, pincushions, etc. I would post a photo of what I'm working with now--but it is a DISASTER, which is why I need something new! :)

DH doesn't enjoy furniture shopping like I do, so if I could cut down on the legwork, that would be awesome! We don't have an Ikea yet (coming 2014), but we do have Home Decorator's Collection, plus all the other major retailers you'd think of. Our style is more traditional.

Has anyone seen something that might fit the bill?

You might try squeezing in window shopping time without him. I love doing this and snap pics to take bavk home and visualize in space and how it might function.
Dont limit yourself on departments- explore kids furniture and kitchen furniture as well as LR and BR. I got lots of ideas by browsing CL too. Right now I am considering a baby changing table, a foyer table (with drawers and lower shelf) and one of those outdated microwave carts.
I like the cart as it is in wheels. The changing table is a good height and the foyer table is a beautiful finish.
I find trying out furniture pieces I find on CL is quite helpful. I can see how it functions and if I like it then look for a quality piece that fits my decor. I can then replace the CL item when I find it and resell the CL item to break even.

sewing brings joy and meaning to my life...

It seems to me you're looking for something like a kitchen island or buffet (these are all from Home Decorators Collection online)
