I just ordered a Bernina 750 QE without embroidery and was wondering how big the machine is. Ive searched online and cant find the dimensions. My Horn Cabinet is the "Deluxe Air Sewing Cabinet" model 2178. The opening is 12 1/2" X 24 and Im hoping my new 750 QE will fit in the opening. Any ideas?

Ask your Bernina dealer. It is possible they have had customers with similar dilemmas.

I'm pretty sure it will fit length and width wise, but not height wise as in being able to push the machine down and cover the top. Some people on the Bernina 7 yahoo group were saying this about the Horn cabinets.

I'm going to be rude and ask what you paid for this. I was going to go for the 580 but would really like the dual feed. I can always add embroidery later. Thanks!

Hey ....

Wasn't there some discussion a while back about the weight of the machine being a concern for some of these cabinets with lifts?

???

Yes I would think that you need to be very careful and be sure of the rating of the lift. I'm sure some of the old ones won't cut it.

I'm pretty sure my sewing counter will hold up to the weight. I had a Pfaff 130 in there at one time, and I think the 7 series weighs less. I'm going to constantly check it just in case. But, my carpenter used piano hinges that can hold up to 200 lbs, so I think I'm safe!
