Several times I have noticed that a topic title shows up on the main board as having the most recent post, but when I go into the sub-board, it's not listed there. Last night there were 2 or 3 of these. At least one of them simply isn't there today. The one I specifically remember was under "Web site talk" and was titled "New sewing site". I was following it because I wanted to see what people thought of it before I made my decision.

What happens to these threads?? They don't seem to be advertising to me. The specific one I'm asking about was posted by a PR member, not someone affiliated with the site.

My guess is that it was deleted for advertising, which is not allowed on these boards, as there was going to be a charge for some of the classes.

Do they get deleted even if a PR member starts the thread as a heads-up to others who might be interested? How do we inform others about what we've found without running afoul of the 'no advertising' policy?

In my mind the difference would be "Look at this great site I found" versus "Check out my site where, if you buy something, I make money." This is my opinion. I do not know the specific rules and their wording.

I was also wondering if it was "legal" for that "New Sewing Site" thread to be on here. I didn't think it was right for someone to be advertising their new site(business). Glad to see it gone.

Liz, it actually doesn't happen too often that we delete a topic because it doesn't meet our guidelines because we find that most people are very mindful of our posting guidelines. We do sometimes merge topics, move them to different forums as a site housekeeping.

As GLButterfly said, there is a difference between promoting your own products and services (that applies to all the affiliates also) Vs a find by a member.

The topic you are talking about was removed because it did not meet with our posting guidelines and we did inform the member who posted it.

Thanks for this clarification. I had looked at it and wondered if it was out of line with PR posting guidelines. The site and contents were of no interest to me. But the thought certainly crossed my mind.

I remember the thread and I think it was a good call by management.
