My Singer Quantum arrived three weeks ago. I am still amazed at all it does and am still on the learning curve. Are there any other Singer Quantum 9960 owners out there??? It is the latest and the greatest. (This is my 3rd Singer...in the late 60's I had a Blue Touch and Sew. I currently have a Singer 7462 as well as the new Quantum...and an early model Montgomery Ward bought at a yard sale for $25.00...it works great...but I love my Singers)

I started sewing lessons in August 2012 and struggled with my 1972 Kenmore that had been used occasionally for mending, adult Halloween costumes, and a few simple home dec projects. At Thanksgiving (2012), I read about the Quantum 9960 on a Web site dedicated to sewing machine and serger reviews. Although I wasn't sure how serious I would be about this new hobby, I knew that I needed a sewing machine that could make buttonholes, sew knits, and was overall more talented than I am. The price of the Quantum 9960, the NINETEEN presser feet, the THIRTEEN buttonhole choices, and more stitch styles than I will ever use were too good to pass up. (Especially the price!!!) I purchased mine the next day after reading additional reviews and have sewn three blouses with decorative stitching. (I discovered that my talent for SHOPPING for sewing supplies greatly exceeds my capacity for actual sewing.) I love my Quantum 9960, but as a beginner did not feel qualified to write a review. One suggestion that I read elsewhere was to print the on-line instruction manual. Hubby was kind enough to bind it so the large pages lie flat while I am refreshing my memory on how to do something other than straight stitching, such as the basting stitch.

I love my 9960. It is a whole lot of machine for the bucks. I am still learning everything it will do but I have not had a single problem with it.

I do wish it had a better basting stitch.

PRICELESS!!!! I love it!!!!

I sew alot--I mean really alot. But I think I'm in the same boat as you!

I think there is some kind of saying like, "Anticipation is half the fun." So I think in buying the sewing items whether it's a notion or fabric, it's the anticipation of it's use that is as much fun as the sewing and the gratification of the finished project.

Or it's just fun to buy the stuff!

Hi! I recently bought this machine and cannot get the Walking foot/ even feed foot installed. Has anyone successfuly done this? I've followed and re-read several times the Instruction manual with no success. So annoying! Any tips would be greatly helpful.

Hi, I don't have that machine, but most walking feet go on the same way. After you have taken the adapter for the snap on feet off, slide the walking foot on to the needle bar. Now, as you are aligning the holes up on the foot and the needle bar, take a look at where that (for a better word) the "thingy" is sticking up. It needs to go up and over or around the place where you have the screw to keep the needle in place. It will bob up and down while you are sewing. If I am confusing you, look carefully at the foot and you will see a thing sticking out on the right side of the foot. This has to be above or around the place where the needle screw is located. I added a short video showing how to install the walking foot to the 9960. Hope this helps.
