My husband paid me the ultimate compliment over the weekend. Which is rare. He told me I was an artist. I hung my Splash up in the living room when I finished it. He really liked it. He put it "I just realized I'm married to an artist." Made my day. However he was also going to the record show the next day and probably didn't want me to comment on his purchases lol. I wouldn't that's his thing. If I can have my thing, you can have your thing. I then showed him some of the winners at the big recent quilts shows and said these are the people that are artists. And he said if you could stay home all day and do it you could do that kind of work also. Maybe, maybe not but it was nice to hear from a man who rarely gives compliments on anything. I don't really consider myself and artist. I use other people's patterns and embroidery designs. I just match the stuff up and put it together.

Wow, that IS a wonderful compliment!

And YES you are an artist! Have you seen some people's attempts at putting patterns together??

Give yourself credit for the gifts you have. Your quilts are beautiful, you do have a great eye for colors and patterns.

What an amazing complement!!! Glad he's got his hobby and now knows YOU are an amazing artist too

It does take tons of skill even to follow a pattern, change their colors into YOURS and pull it all together - That's artistry for sure.

I'd have to use a drill on my DH to get him to compliment my stuff hehehe oh wait -- I saw one in the garage

Absolutely you are an artist! It's always SO nice when someone whom we love appreciate our talents.

I have the same husband, and had a similar experience this weekend.
I'd finished the cowboy quilt, and presented it to him. He really complimented me on it, and said I had really done a great job. I think he was surprised that it came out so nice. I know I was being a beginner quilter!

But you match up the stuff and put it together according to your own artistic eye.

I am so pleased that your husband made you so happy!
