I have purchased the juki f600, my first electronic machine, and I Love it! My only complaint is that it make a quiet yet audible, very high pitched noise whenever it is powered on. The noise is similar to that of an old-style television-remember how you could hear that it was on even if the sound was all the way down? (Maybe you still can- I haven't owned a tv in years.)

Do all electronic machines make this noise? Am I just super sensitive? I find myself turning the machine off every time I stop actively sewing- even if I am just stopping to iron a seam, for example.

I want to keep this machine but if I found one that didn't make this noise I might just return it. If all electronic machines make this noise I may just need to adjust to it. Any feedback would be helpful.

It sounds like (no pun intended ) you may have some electrical interference. Have you tried plugging the machine in somewhere else in the house? What else is plugged in to the same powerpoint?

It is a computer isn't it? Some of them make more noise than others. Have you plugged it into a surge protector? Not sure if the noise is normal so I hope some 600 owners will see this and chime in.

I have owned a couple of new computerized machines that have the same issue. The first was a Bernina 550QE and now my Viking Sapphire. The Bernina sound was very high-pitched but it was there for very sound-sensitive people like us to hear. It was enough that I didn't want to sew on it. Of course, you don't hear the sound when actually sewing but for all those moments in between I wasn't going to keep turning the machine off and on to avoid it.

My Viking has a sound, too, though not as high-pitched and obvious. More like a low background hum. The dealer was up front about that when I told her of my previous experience, saying yes, they do make a noise.

So for people that are very sensitive to sound, it's something to add to you list of features when looking for a computerized model. For some of us, the wrong sound can literally kill your desire to use the machine.

I purchased a "knock-off" Janome online at a great price but it too, had the persistent and (to me) very annoying high pitched hum. When I mentioned it to a local dealer he just shrugged and said, "Cheap electronics...". I sent the machine back and tried another one--same machine--same result. I sent the second one back and bit the bullet and purchased a "real" Janome from a dealer, who actually had the best price--because he was trying to move it. Since then I've been a very happy camper. I hope you get it resolved one way or the other as it is no fun sewing at a machine you find annoying. Best of luck.

Mine does not have this noise present. I have it plugged into a surge protector. I think the high-pitch noise would bother me as well.

Good luck.

its the power supply, some switch mode power supplies have noisy transformers. Exchange it or have the power supply replaced.

Drtechno,
What exactly do you mean by the power supply?

The high pitched sound comes from the LED lights.
