I've been on the fence but think I'll order the Paris jacket. Seems this is available on the Casual Elegance Studio patterns page, but not the Loes Hinse pattern page even though there's a photo there. Hmm. But I think I follow so far.
I like the Biarritz also, available on both pages. But the Biarritz "multiples", only in the Studio category of Casual Elegance, is described:
"This pattern is a narrow elongated Peter Pan collar added to a converted Biarritz jacket
pattern. Can be used for both View A and View B of the Biarritz Jacket. The Biarritz Jacket is not included in this pattern."

Nothing about how the Biarritz is "converted", and it's $20 just for a collar??????????

The Bolero is the other one I'm considering but also looking at the Bolero multiples for alternatives it describes three alternate collars. From the line drawings, except one collar, I cannot for the life of me figure out what the three are.

Help? I used some LH patterns many years ago and liked them, would like to try again, but it seems getting a pattern and variations is soaring toward $40, the way I'm reading it. The best incentive ever to try some of those higher price (with shipping) Style Arc patterns I've had my eyes on.
Thanks!

The newer patterns are only available on the Casual Elegance website, which is why you can't find the Paris Jacket or Biarritz Multiples there. I hear you about the price of the pattern tweaks. FWIW, the Bolero has no front overlap for a closure--the version with the button closure has a loop on one side. The Bolero Multiples, while (IMO) not really 3 variations, has the front overlap for a 3- or 4-button closure, and the collared version.

Take a look at the line drawings of the patterns--that may help you decide. The Bolero has a front princess seam and no back shaping at all. The Biarritz has only front darts on the pocketed view, and no shaping on the other view. The Paris OTOH, has front and back princess seams. I'd prefer all those shaping opportunities. You could probably draft a collar yourself to fit either the Bolero or Biarritz, if you preferred those silhouettes, rather than spend $16 or
$20 for the Multiples pattern.

Liz

Frankly, I would ignore the 'multiples,' at least until you have reacquainted yourself with the LH line. These ad- ons are overpriced, IMHO, and there is no need to buy them unless you are so in love with one pattern that you are beside yourself with desire to alter the basic.

There are quite a few reviews of LH jackets here (as well as other patterns in her line). To read them, click on 'advanced search' in the orange box on the upper left area of your screen. Choose 'Loes Hinse' in the pattern grouping, and then 'coats/jackets,' and all the jacket reviews should come up, giving you some idea of what people think.

Her patterns are my go-to basics. They are very thoughtfully designed and I love them, but I suspect Loes is a restless soul, and now she is a grandma, too. Her priorities may be changing, as they do when we approach the age of retirement.
