I was wondering if anyone can give me an opinion on this machine. I know it takes floppies. Someone is selling their relatives that died and I would have to drive a fair distance to get it. I need a sewing machine and would like the options for bigger hoops size but wanted to hear opinions about what is a fair price for it and if I should even consider it. From what I understand I would have to buy a box for the floppy? They said they downloaded ped basic. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

The PED Basic isn't available as a free download, only free updates to current users. If they had purchased the software it would come with a memory card instalation cd and a reader/writer box that hooks up to a UBS port on the computer. This machine also has a card reader slot not just the floppy. Someone else had asked about the 2003D model today, you can read that thread as well. I've had mine since 2002 and it's a great embroidery/sewing machine. You can also read reviews on this site for more info about the machines.

I use to own a Brother ULT2003D and LOVED it!!! I had it for 8 years and regret selling it. I did a lot of embroidery and it was beautiful. I had hundreds of floppy's with designs on them that I downloaded for free.

If the machine has been well taken care of it would be worth getting the box.

Good luck.

I have a ULT 2003 and would like some advice about embroidering monograms on pockets. The pockets that you cut from fabric and then sew on a plain tshirt. I haven't used this machine much, but bought it new. I used to have a box to download on cards for this machine but it is misplaced or possibly lost in a move. What kind of box do I need to purchase. I have been out of the loop for too long.

PED Basic has already been mentioned as one option.

This may be a very good machine. However, there will be no warranty and the method of sending downloads from the computer to the machine is old technology.

What is their asking price?
