I just learned something about using a walking foot on my Brother NX450Q that I thought I'd share - never know who might be helped by knowing about my experience.

I set my machine to its longest stitch length, which is 5mm, and attached the walking foot. And although the foot worked, I heard a "clunk" with every forward step of the foot. I took the foot off, reattached it, thinking I did not have it properly installed. Still got the "clunk" noise.

I then changed the stitch length from its maximum 5MM to 4.5MM. The clunking noise stopped immediately.

So, I have learned that at least on this model machine, I can't set the stitch length to its maximum point.

Good to know! I have a different brother, but a current one and I use a walking foot sometimes.
