I am sharing this with all of you, as you were all so wonderfully supportive when I first received the awful news..

I took her for a second opinion on the urging of my boss who recommened his vet. They x-rayed her abdomen and leg and did an aspiration and biopsy of the mass. It all came back negative. They are going to remove as much of the mass as they can on Monday. She will not have to have general anesthesia, only be sedated and they will use local lidocaine. He said that the weight loss seemed to be due to poor appetite due to the pain from her arthritic hips. Because she bounced back so quickly after taking the antiflammatory, and has gained back quite a bit of weight, he was suprised the prevous vet stuck to their diagnosis.

The prior vet will also not release her records, either to me or the new vet! The new vet has deemed her a happy, healthy dog. She does have arthritis, and has prescribed an anti-inflammatory that is a little easier on her digestive system than the rimadyl.

We are all celebrating and doing the happy dance right now...I have every confidence that he will do a good job on her surgery on monday and that Ginger and I will have a few more happy years together....

I know you are so happy about Ginger.

Of course the old vet will not release the records. You could sue him too easily and he knows it. Just be glad you now have a quality vet and that Ginger is getting better each day.

I really enjoy quilting. I love to play with fabrics, colors and pictures. I recently discovered how much fun applique can be. As I love making pictures, landscape quilting can be challenging, but seeing the picture come to life is so rewarding.

Great news! And savvy thinking to take her in for a second opinion; if only people would do that more.

As to the records, write the first vet a letter, basically demanding (in a nice way, as I know you will) him/her to release them. It's your dog, and you are taking an active part in her health (which I'm sure you will put in your letter). You paid for those records when you paid for your vet bill.
