How do I adjust the 'spread' of a patterned stretch stitch?

I have just replaced my old Singer (Janome made) with a Singer Talent 3321.

When testing the stretch stitches on a scrap (using a brand new ball point needle and new all purpose thread) I noticed the honeycomb looking pattern is spread out.

On my old Janome made machine, there was a little adjustment wheel that you had to turn with the L screwdriver to, I believe, adjust the feed -- and it would adjust the spread of the pattern.

This new Singer does not have that adjustment wheel, so I am lost as to how to join the honeycomb pattern up.

Any ideas?

I know the adjustment. It is just not a feature of all sewing machines.

Have you tried changing the length and width, similar as explained on page 31 of the manual for this machine?

I played with it a little bit... will try again though to see if the length could be it.

What I don't understand is.... without this feed adjustment, how do I adjust the feed for fine or sheer fabrics? (I know, one question is running into another... :-) )

I think we are talking about two different features. The later would be presser foot pressure adjustment. Maybe sewing with a walking foot would help(???).

Right now I do not have a sewing machine or serger that does not have the pressure adjustment.

For the sheers, some use tear away or wash away stabilizer (sold for machine embroidery) or scraps of pattern tissue under the fabric and next to the feed dogs.

The original feature I addressed is to make decorative stitching longer, wider, closer.

Oh yes, I see what you are saying -- two different features.... that this new machine seems to be missing both of them

All I wanted was an inexpensive starter machine -- which is pretty much what I got.

Next time I'll know better. Should have just fixed my old one!
