Warm weather is finally here and I am trying to think outside the world of jeans and shorts. Are maxi dresses still being worn in 2013? If so, any good patterns for a plus size?
Thanks

Who cares what is in? Maxi dresses are great because the air flows all around. I prefer ones that have a good slit in the bottom or else I tend to trip if my legs are not free to move (if the pattern does not have a good slit...I add one). I think McCalls has a good number of maxi patterns. Plus Fashion Star patterns have maxi choices.

Well, I care whats in style. I make mostly classic styles but occasionally want a couple of current pieces that I probably will not wear next year or so. I don't want to bother making one if they are already over.

I guess I could always use it to hang around the house on hot days.

Still definitely seeing them on the fashion-forward 20-something women in my office. If anything, the maxi styles seem to be branching out from the basic tank styles into a little bit more variation.

From my recent shopping experience they are definitely still in. I just saw an adorable one at Talbots.

I think it's a safe choice.

We've only had a couple of days of "spring" so far but I've seen a few maxi dresses in the past week.

Everyone is still selling them. I am planning on making a couple. Do what you want. There have been several that people have posted. Just search for maxi on here and then look at some styles you like. If there are alot of reviews, then you are sure to find someone else with a similar body type and that will give you an idea as to how that style might work for you.

For some reason, I'm seeing more maxi skirts this spring. Many of my daughter's friends (late 20s to early 30s) are wearing them all over the place!
