I'm moving to Daytona for the summer for an amazing summer internship in the legal department at a large company. I'll be leaving next Friday morning...problem is, I'm having a ton of trouble finding housing. I've been advised to look in Ormond Beach, and I found something out that way, but have been warned the houses in that area are kind of run down. I'm hesitant to sign a lease sight unseen, but I'm not sure the owner would be willing to wait on me to get down there to make a decision.

This is hard! >.<

If anybody from the Daytona or surrounding areas has any advice for me to find housing, I would really appreciate it!! <3 All the leases at apartments I'm finding are 7 months or more, and many other places are either way too expensive or won't let me take my cat. I'm considering calling to ask if they'll make an exception if I give them an additional $200 for the summer for her, since I'm so unable to find anything!!

I'll try anything once :)

Please excuse my typos...sometimes it is harder to go back and edit on mobile than it is worth!

Someone at the company you will be working for should be able to help you.

Start with Human Resources.

Here's a long shot: try contacting Embrey Riddle University to see if any students there are hoping to sublet their apartments for the summer. http://www.erau.edu/

You might also check into any "extended stay" hotels. There is one in Atlanta that I prefer over most hotel rooms.

I've looked at Extended Stay and other hotels; their rates are about double what I can afford.I can do around $24/day or $700 a month, which is decently reasonable for that area. There are plenty of apartments I *could* afford, if I signed a 7 month lease. >.<

The company I'm interning for told me to try one apartment complex (that doesn't allow cats) or Craigslist...which is a mixed bag. They usually don't help their interns apparently.

I'll try contacting the University; maybe they have a posting board or something. Thank you, I didn't think of that!

Unfortunately the university was not helpful.Either they didn't understand that I was asking for subletting information, or they don't have students telling them about it. They only linked me to apartment websites, which again, have 7 month minimum leases. Argh.

Does this university have their own student website? Call & ask. That's where students post subletting info. Good luck.

Okay. Talk with co-workers instead of those who should be in the know.

Would not hurt to look at CL as there may be a few snowbirds who rent out their places for the summer.
