Hello!

This is my first post and I have a query that I would love some answers to.

I recently made myself some slopers (I'm a guy) and decided to do a test fit with them. The body fit great and the armholes seemed well balanced and perfect looseness. The sleeve however proved a bit of a trouble.

It looked fine and fell correctly but when I moved my arm forward, it felt quite tight and uncomfortable. There is more than enough ease around the bicep and the sleeve itself isn't tight; just when I move my arm forward. Do you think I should change the actual curve of the sleeve sloper? I don't think ease is the problem as there is an adequate amount in the cap.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Sometimes this can be caused not by the sleeve, but by the shoulders or upper chest being cut too wide.

We have several threads about this problem and I don't know that anyone has really come up with the "cure all". It mostly occurs with wovens. Do you think adding a bit in the back width(broad back adjustment)might give you a little more moving room?

The body is definitely not too wide so am thinking the problem lies in the sleeve. I may try to dip the front curve of the sleeve front side more, as I read that the front of the sleeve sloper curve should be a lot more steep than most standard patterns look like.

It almost feels as if the sleeve's pitch might be too backwards. IE I need to move the underarm seam sleeve to accommodate for more of a forward motion?

Would you mind posting a photo of the front, back, and sleeve pieces?

Could you compare the sloper with a shirt that fits you well, and see if you can identify the difference? I realize the ease would be different, but there may still be a visible clue.

It does sound like the back to me, that's where the strain would be in the fabric when you move your arm forward.

It may be that the body is not wide enough (in the back)

That's a good idea. I did manage to do that earlier and the body seemed pretty accurate. Just not sure about this sleeve!
