Hey All,
I was planning on playing around with making skirt according to the method described in this article:

Threas article

I read through the instuctions a few times but I am confused about how one would get into the skirt. If the front pleat is stitched down then doesn't that make the button closure decorative? I don't see a zipper anywhere. I supposed that one could be added to the back seam.

Am I missing something obvious here?

Thanks!

At first the front pleat is just pinned "1. Wrap at center front. Fold a large pleat about 5 inches wide at center front. Hide the seam inside the pleat fold. Pin the pleat in place."

Then you do all the darts, and lastly "Secure the front pleat with snaps. Sew snaps on the inside folds of the front pleat. Or, use squares of hookand- loop tape."

In the pictures it looks like the model has darted it enough that she can just barely get it over her hips (and the back side of the front pleat is tacked down at the CF seam). The snaps/buttons will only pull it a teen bit tighter. Or there may be a second set of snaps behind the front pleat (rather than sewn down) - and we just can't see it in the pic.

I can's see how one could get the skirt over the hips if the front
pleat is sewn down. And I have an ample booty. Perhaps a few hidden snaps in the front pleat would do the trick.

Eureka! I think I just figured it out. It took about five more readings to figure it out. The front pleat is supposed to be fastened on the inside with snaps or velcro. There is no photo for this step so I got confused. Whew.
