Joanns is the way it is

corporate list

5 women on this list out of 28. Not to offend any of the guys here but Joanns needs more female input. As the 4 guys at the top don't look like they'd be breaking out a sewing machine any time soon.

Here's a case where a picture (or four of them) are worth a thousand words.

We've got a "guy" manager and "boys" cutting......go figure! I have to tell the cutters how to cut.No offense to the men here, but if the store is supposed to cater to the majority, it would have more women in it's employ. Our former female manager got replaced because she didn't have the right computer skills, though she wasn't that terrific either. Very sad! I wish all of you had a "downtown Los Angeles" closeby like I do for fabric and a wonderful independent fabric store one mile away for everything else except cheap patterns at JoAnns.

My non-sewing 21 year old daughter works at a different fabric store in Tuscaloosa, AL. And she says she knows more about sewing than most of the other people who work there.

JoAnn Fabrics and Crafts. I doubt if the female board members know any more about sewing than the men on the board.

Our manager is a man. He's been there for years and is a real nice guy. My youngest son use to work there in his senior year of high school. The women employees loved him, because he would climb the ladders and do the heavy lifting

That list of leadership/operating officers just blows me away. We can see where the money is going. Several of those positions could be ousted and the extra money could show up in the paychecks of the store employees. Or in the purchase of more/better material

The pictures and list just reminded of the "Old boy network". Honestly I wouldn't have had a problem with a male manger when I worked there. The woman manager was a witch spelled with a B in capital letters. The absolute worst boss I've ever had. And I've had a few bad ones. I've had good male bosses and bad ones. I don't think it's so much a matter of sex but managing skills. Which a lot of these people who are mangers just don't have. But back then it was rare for a male to cross the threshold of a Joanns store lol. Much less work there.
