I am trying to decide what to do about my 2nd 750 (first one was sent back, bad straight stitch). If I only look at the front of the stitching everything looks beautiful, but the back is terrrible. Loops with the decorative stitches, dots on the straight stitches (It is more obvious because I use 2 colors of thread) I can make them much better on the back if I raise the top tension a lot, but then the fabric ruffles and won't lay flat. I assume you aren't seeing any of that? I really don't see my dealer offering to send this one back, they don't see anything wrong. I don't know if I even believe I might get a good one this time. Maybe I am too picky. When I pull thread out of the bobbin and bobbin case, it is a hard pull, it doesn't just roll out easily, even turning the screw on the case several full turns doesn't change a thing. Is it that hard to pull the thread on yours?

Have you ever tried another bobbin case? I have been reading your posts, and since the major problem seems to be tension, perhaps you need to look at the bobbin tension rather than the top tension. If you are loosening the correct screw, the tension should change. Either you have a defective case or there is lint caught up somewhere. Maybe you can ask your dealer to try another case while in the shop to see if that makes a difference.

Do you have access to a different bernina dealer who may have a better tech than your present one? It's still under warranty so maybe you'd not have to pay for a repair? I'm not sure how that works but you've given dealer #1 plenty of chances to fix it now. Trying a new bobbin case is a good idea just in case its that simple. Any chance you could test-drive the same model at a different dealer to see if it sews better? If it does, then maybe you can just return your machine and ask for a refund. Is the woman you deal with also the owner of the present shop? Speak to the owner and tell them you want a refund and see where that takes you. You'll have your $$ back and can take your business elsewhere. And no, you are not being too picky.

You're not being too picky.

Dots of top thread seen on the back of the fabric, which my 750 also does, means incorrect tension and is not a balanced stitch. Loops on the back...also wrong.

Seriously, a $200 machine from Costco doesn't do this. It's a problem with the machine, not with you. Bernina International's reply to me was the same as others have received; they are aware of the problem.

Well that's nice. Baby steps, I suppose.

I don't know what advice to give you; the loops a good tech should be able to fix for you, but the dots of top thread showing on the back, due to tension troubles, apparently is not fixable by any tech, because Bernina themselves say they know there is a problem and are working on it.

I'm still undecided myself about what to do with my own 750; wait until there is a fix, or just walk away.

I would love to see photos front and back, two different thread colors top and bottom, of anyone who has a 7 series machine with perfectly balanced tension. One, to show my own tech, and two, to know such a thing as balanced tension (without fabric puckering due to just increaseing the top tension) really is possible on the 7 series.

This has been a topic on the Bernina yahoo group. It is widespread, and they'll have to come up with a fix on this one. Be persistent and contact Bernina directly.

Yes, this is the second bobbin case, no difference. I have also turned the screw on the bobbin case many turns just to see if it would ever get loose and I never saw any difference in the stitches.
