It's finally summer! So it's time for a Summer Street Dress Sew-Along. It's PatternReview's first exclusive digital pattern so it gives me great pleasure to announce this sew-along. I saw some really cool versions at the PR Weekend and can't wait to see more.

With a fitted bodice and flared skirt, this pattern is so versatile and super quick to make. I'm making a July 4th version with a polka knit and a red belt. My next version will be in stretch mesh.

How this Sew-Along will work

Simple, just post your progress here and post photos on the Flickr group. Would love to see the fabric or a combination of fabrics you are thinking about using. I'll post my photos tonight.

I will also be posting suggestions and tips and tricks regarding this on this topic.

This is cute. Looks a lot like the McCall's 5974 View A. I've made tons off that pattern.

I'm curious about the bodice. You mentioned there was no need for an FBA. Are cup sizes worked into this pattern?

Also, I see the version with the front panel is gathered, is the other version pleated. I have found pleats work so much better when there's a little extra belly to deal with

This is designed for a C cup so if you are a larger than C then you may need to do an FBA. I am a D cup but I was able to get by without it.

I am totally doing my next one with pleats. I've made two now with gathers.

Would it be difficult to make the dress in a smaller size?

I think I'm going to try this sew-along. The dress looks very very nice, and easy! And having just about completed our move into our new home, I am itching to start sewing and get creative. This may be my chance! TFS!

I'm in the process of moving, but assuming that I can access my machines when I think I'll be able to, I'm in. I've been wanting to make this up since it was released (it looks like the perfect office-appropriate casual summer dress). I think doing this as a sew-along will be fun and motivating!

I just purchased this and I think I'll like this pattern. I have a question. In the instructions for sewing it states that the seam allowance is included but on page 7 of the instructions the photo looks like a seam allowance was added during the cutting out phase. Just want to make sure before I cut into the fabric.

Hi Nikki,

Sorry for the confusion. 3/8" seam allowance is included in the pattern.
