A lot of beautiful tops and jackets have the princess seams. They just don't flatter my body even though I'm a B cup. I don't know if it's just because I'm not getting the fit right because they don't lay across the bust nicely or they stick out. Am I the only one with this problem?

I too am a B cup (trying hard to stay that way) and at first found princess seams to be problematic: they would curve in a place where they shouldn't have, wouldn't look straight--all kinds of things. Then I made a top using an OOP KwikSew pattern, #2508 and now I'm in love with it. The muslin was originally out of shirting, second one out of linen, and apart from cutting the collar strange, the linen and the most latest (in my review) one are my favorite shirts to wear.

What I found is that my bust is higher than the pattern, so I redrew the curve (didn't mention this in my review), and I'm about 1/2" narrower across the upper chest than the pattern, so I took that in.

are you clipping them carefully, and pressing them well? I made a top with princess seams, should have been perfect, but I realized later that I didn't clip the curves enough and then didn't press thoroughly.

Chances are that your bust point doesn't match the patterns, either being higher or lower.

High/Low can definitely cause fit issues. And besides North/South, there's East/West. What is the distance between your 2 bust points? If narrower or wider than the pattern, that needs to be tweaked too.

I think my bust point is not hitting me where it should. I find confusing is that some pattern pictures it looks like the seam is toward the side...not right across the apex.

Maybe you could post some pics of a muslin of one problematic pattern, and we can work through the fit issues? Once you get the fit right, princess seam clothing is very flattering!

I'm a B cup whose bust isn't full on top and I've found shoulder princess seams ROCK. Not as hot about the armscye princess, but with some tweaking they worked pretty good too in a knit top I tried.
Haven't tried the side panel yet, but probably won't because I'm short with a somewhat low bust (11.5 vertical bust point from shoulder/neck on a torso that's a 15.75 back length) with a 4.5 bust point span so it'd just widen me all the more. In a top or jacket, anyway.

I do have better luck with the shoulder princess but it seems like tops and jackets are armhole princess.

I've seen quite a few shoulder princess tops lately. Simplicity has cup-sized blouses including one with shoulder princess seams in the current catalog. Maybe this could be a starting point for a jacket as well.
