My old mechanical Husqvarna just hasn't been the same since it blew a capacitor last year and a like-for-like replacement was no longer available - it has a make-do fix but it behaves a bit erratically now which has killed my pleasure in using it, and besides it owes me nowt after all these years.

And, much as I love Herr Pfaff (my QE4), who has behaved in exemplary fashion since his top tension unit was replaced last year, I feel the lack of a solid keep-on-trucking mechanical machine. I just like them, you know ?

Anyway, ta-da, enter the Pfaffling!

He's just like Herr Pfaff, only smaller, lighter, and more, well.... pragmatic. He's the NCO to Herr Pfaff's Officer, if you like !

And he can share most of Herr Pfaff's Pfeet too.

Do I need him? Absolutely not. Do I love him? Ooh yes!

Edit: sorry guys, probs with the pic - dunno what I'm doing wrong. Hang on...

YAY sorted!

OH WOW!! Is this a new body style for pfaff? I've heard so many great things about the mechanical pfaffs and this one looks very different and very lovely!! Its the PERFECT companion to your QE 4!!! Now you have the best of both. I enjoy sewing on my mechanical machines as much as the computerized even tho at times I do long for the needle up/down...but the simplicity of it all kind of makes up for that. its very much apples and oranges and one really needs both! Congrats!!!

LOVE the purple - congrats! I will never ever sell my original mechanical Pfaff Tipmatic 6122 which is the exact same machine as the renamed/revamped Select 4.0 you've purchased - excellent machine. Here is my pretty pink girl:
