I've made McCalls 6172 jacket and cut a 14 with a 2" fba on each side and extra width at hips added onto front only, but the problem is the back, it is 2" longer than the front. I've tapered this in around the bottom and is fine on a plain fabric, but would have been awful on a pattern. Does anyone know why my back length would be too long when I didn't change my side seam length?

I checked some of the reviews that were done on this pattern and no one seems to have encountered this. Did you use the same size for the back as you did the front? When you made your FBA, did you rotate a dart? Did you petite the front and forget to do the same to the back? Were you able to put the pattern pieces back on the fabric after it was cut, to see if there was a glitch?

Hi, I followed all the instructions on the pattern for the fba, and cut the same size for each piece, I was wondering if there is a particular fit issue that results in a long back, is my body short somewhere I haven't thought of?

I've lost a lot of weight recently and am getting to grips with changing body shape

Can you post some pictures of yourself wearing the garment? If anything, the front should have been longer than the back after doing the FBA

The only thing I can think of is perhaps the FBA is not large enough. One of the tell tale signs of a needed FBA is that the front gets pulled up higher than the back. More length is needed to cover the bust in a larger size. Look at yourself sideways. Is the bust pulling up the front? Could be the answer.

I think this may be the case as there is still a bit of gaping and a few wrinkles at the top, something to remember for next time :-) jacket picture's on review

Thanks for the help
