Here is my latest quilt, Sunny Days. It is a variation of one I saw called Happy Daisies. The original has a flower motif, I wanted something a little more gender neutral. I experimented and came up with this sun. After I started the quilt, I realized that this sun is very similar to the daisy - both have circles in the center, surrounded by petals/rays.

I think this style is called Positive/Negative. I was going to quilt this with something other than my usual crosshatch (I don't FMQ), but then noticed that the rays lined up perfectly for me to crosshatch straight through them. I have used ideas from petitdesign before for walking foot designs. I used one of those to quilt the border, with a variation. The blog shows a pattern with two ovals, one inside the other. I used one oval, overlapping itself. It has an intertwined look.

Of course, this is all applique. It is my first attempt and if you could see it up close, you would see all the errors. Also, because I'm not very good at binding, it's self-binded. (self-bound?)

That's lovely, bright and modern the sun motif much more effective than a daisy would be, makes it feel strong.

I hate binding as well my least favorite part of process

I love it, and I don't see any errors at all.

Tate - It's lovely!

I hope you also post the picture in the pinned topic of everyone's Finished Projects!! Like we all need more ideas hahaah

I've never done a self-binding quilt before? Do you just flip the back over and use that for the binding?

Love the cross hatch ovals!! Very good color scheme and much nicer than flowers -- I agree, more gender neutral!!!

Thanks,

:-Debbie
