I am making a detachable train with a chiffon underlayer and a sparkly net overlay. I carefully cut the chiffon as a rounded diamond with the top cut off a bit to gather. After cutting the chiffon with the longest length 52", I carefully put the chiffon on top of netting, cut and pinned the edge so I could make a rolled serged hem. When I finished, the chiffon rolls out 2" (doubled, so really 4") longer than the netting, and it is too short
Any ideas on how to get the layers to come out even?
Thanks.

hi, not really sure but my best guess would be to lay a blanket on the cutting surface and then the fabric on top to stop fabric from shifting?

In certain situations this works for me

Anyone else have an idea?

Here's a picture of what happened. extra chiffon
I cut out the new train pieces together (after spraying lightly with adhesive to laminate) on a large piece of fleece to keep from shifting. I think it worked OK.
Success!
