I just spent the past hour cutting out the pattern for Simplicity 2900 , after finishing and gathering out the pieces, I find I am missing 2 of them. The pattern has the pieces for the bonnet, but the xxs and xs versions of them aren't there. So what do you do now? It's from Joann's, but not exactly in resellable condition at this point. This has to happen occasionally to folks, what do you when you are a few pieces short?

If you think the pieces are truly missing, I would call Simplicity and ask them to send you a PDF of the pieces.
While I have found lots of mistakes in Big4 patterns, I've never had a missing piece. There have been moments when I thought a piece was missing, but I eventually found it.

I'm going to back and hunt again, both in the room in case they fell somewhere and to see if somehow I missed them despite two rounds of searching. Both missing pieces are the same size range for the same item, the bonnet. But I'll check again just in case. It is entirely possible it fell alongside the couch I was cutting on. I've never had this happen before. I started doing what has been suggested on PR, cutting the entire pattern into pieces and putting them back into the envelope in order. This is pattern is one I want to do very soon though, it's a present for a little one due very soon. Hopefully I will find it.

I have noticed that sometimes those sizes are strangely nested within the larger corresponding pattern pieces. I just made a Simplicity pattern where this was the case. At first I too thought the piece was missing but it was inside the other large size baby hat piece.

Also check the trash, where you maybe crumpled up the tissue paper you cut off the patterns, I have been in a hurry before in cutting, and just crumpled some up and tossed it, then found it really in there when I realized a small piece was missing. So that is the first place I look actually :)

If really does not turn up, (and you don't want to draft your own, by just using the pieces in the size above the ones you are missing and cutting those smaller, then I guess I would go back to Joann's, open the drawer, pull out another matching pattern, and just open up right there at the pattern table and see if it is on that one in the drawer. If so, then it would have had to been on yours someplace too. In that case I think I would just hope they were having a $1.99 sale on Simplicity right then, and I might buy it again for $1.99 to even have the missing pieces, if I had just tossed them by mistake. Also, I think Walmart has Simplicity patterns on sale pretty cheap all the time.

So far, I have found mistakes in patterns very occasionally, but I have never found them to actually leave out and forget to include some pieces, but I guess it's possible.

Well I checked the trash for the tissue I cut, searched around the couch where I was cutting and went through the pattern pieces-again. Piece 25 and 23 aren't there in the xxs and xs sizes. They are in the s, m, and l sizes in a multisized piece. They are both both decent sized pieces so they wouldn't hide too easily. I'm flummoxed. I've never had a missing piece before. The printing quality of the printing isn't too good, several pieces were printed on paper when it was obviously folded, I'll have to fold the piece back when I cut it. I may just draft the smaller size, I don't think the Simplicity is on sale this week. But I'll check. I'm just surprised that it happened.

I've had this happen before -- I contacted the pattern company and they sent me out another pattern at no charge (if I remember correctly it was a Kwik Sew pattern and a Simplicity pattern -- at different times). I wasn't in a hurry to make up the pattern so this worked for me.

If you are in a hurry, the previous suggestion of asking for a pdf of the pieces from the pattern company would work better.

I had that to happen once and I took it back to Hancocks and they gave me a replacement pattern.

This happened to me once - with a Vogue pattern. I emailed, they already knew about the problem, and they sent me a copy. just get in touch with them, sure they will send you a replacement.

Tell Simplicity. They'll at least send you a coupon to get another pattern. Happened to me.
