Problems with coverstitch

Can anyone who has been using this machine tell me if the needle heights are the same when using the coverstitch? I cannot tell what is causing all my looping problems on the underside since the tension adjustment doesn't make any difference. I have replaced needles, rethreaded, tried different types of fabrics and am still having problems. I did notice that the left needle is slightly higher than the right and am wondering if that's the way its supposed to be. I forget because I haven't used the coverstitch in years!

I have a Bernina 2000DCE, and used the coverstitch about 3 weeks ago. Yes, the left needle sits a bit higher than the right. The looping problems - I don't know. I do know that it is always best to thread any machine with the presser foot up, so the threads will correctly seat in the tension discs. Ask me how I know!! Just go back through the conversion steps again, in order. I don't like the conversion process, and found myself not doing the projects I needed the coverstitch for. Therefore, I never got the conversion process down to an art. If I had done it as much as I have threaded the serger portion, probably wouldn't be so bad. Instead, I bought a Babylock coverstitch machine 2 weeks ago. Only have to move the threads, lazy, I know. Wish I had more of an idea for the tension problem, sorry. Good luck.

Thanks for your help! I don't know if I'll ever get it to work right, but at least I know the needle height is normal. I am thinking about a Babylock......if I ever get the Bernina working, I don't think I'll ever do a conversion again!
