Hi, Anyone out there have success in purchasing a replacement throat plate for a Viking Tribute that is marked in inches? My Viking store had one but it had a nick in the edge of the hole where the needle goes up and down. I assumed it would snag the thread and fabric (the metric throat plate that came with the machine had no such nick) so I asked them to order another. They got more in and all of them have nicks.

I wrote to Viking and it seems like these non-decmial plates are not actually manufactured by Viking - they told me to again, contact my dealer.

Has anyone purchased one of these without a nick or is it supposed to be there? Thanks so much!

I have a Tribute 140c and replaced the throat plate about 2 months ago with no problems at all. I went through my Viking dealer in town.

Are you sure it's a manufacturing defect? The plate on my very old Husqvarna has a small v shaped groove on it on the (back I think) edge of the needle hole, and it's a deliberate thing. Can't remember what it signifies though!

it doesn't matter what type of sewing you do. you are sewing, and sewing is good.

That "nick" is a notch for the thread to rest in.

Might this be the $1.29 solution? :

Sew-Classic throat plate sticker

and that's for multiples!!

Don't confuse accessibility with ease; just because anybody can pick up a needle and thread doesn't mean sewing quality garments is easy.

If it is was truely a nick or burr, the dealer could have smoothed it with a piece of emery cloth.
