I have a blindstitch foot #5 which I'm using for edgestitching. Is the edgestitch foot worth the investment at around $40?

I see very little difference in the 2 feet and have wondered the same. My dealer claims the blind-stitch foot isn't good for edge-stitching so she successfully sold me on the #10...and i use it ALL the time but I really think I could've used the other one. I know someone here will have the answer. The #10 foot is usually the first one people buy so there must be a reason for that since the blind-hem foot comes w/ all machines.

I think the #10 is my most-used after the #34, and the #1.
I just do a significant amount of edge-stitching and it helps me a lot. I also love the #12.
Those four along with the piecing feet (37 and 57 are my most used.

Well, I have both and yes, I do use the 10 foot more. I'm not at home or I'd look for you, but I'm wondering if the 5 foot allows as far of a left needle position as the 10? Also, on the 5 foot, you have that little curved bar that may get in the way of exactly where you want the needle to land.

Yes! The 10 foot is one of my most used feet. The other ones I use the most are 34, 37, and 57.

it doesn't matter what type of sewing you do. you are sewing, and sewing is good.

Yes, yes, and yes. You will love it. Much better than foot #5 for what you are doing. Buy it, and you will quickly find you use it for a whole lot of sewing.

I really enjoy quilting. I love to play with fabrics, colors and pictures. I recently discovered how much fun applique can be. As I love making pictures, landscape quilting can be challenging, but seeing the picture come to life is so rewarding.

Why not go to the dealer and try it before you buy it?

Another voice in favor of the #10 - next to my #1 foot it is the most used foot in my collection. It just feels more solid when edge stitching than the #5.

#10 is one of Bernina's best-designed feet. I used it all the time when I had one.

Definitely yes, well worth the money - you can choose any needle position - you can't with the #5.
