I made this muslin with the Surefit Design Dress Kit (it has 2in ease).
This is my third muslin and I think I'm becoming confused!

Can I double check what it's like pls?

I'm thinking the sleeve cap is too low (ie the shoulder slope is too long), the neck is too tight (probably related to the shoulder slope again) and I'm not sure what's going on with the back bodice?

Thank you in advance!

My husband took my measurements but it's not his gifting shall we say!

ETA:
I think I've sorted it thanks to Madalynne's blog! :)

I think you are correct on the first two thoughts (neck and shoulder). From under the bust to the waist looks too tight and too short. But maybe adding to the side seams will correct both.

Thank you Patti
I have a very high waist.

I've decided to remeasure myself and trace off another pattern accordingly adjusting for a larger bicep. Hubby is great but he hasn't got a clue when he measures and it wouldn't be the first time his results were completely wrong!

It would also give you a clearer picture of the fit if the bodice were ironed.

Front and back at a bust line are too wide.... I do not know SureFit sizing but can you go with smaller size? Shoulder size is way too big for you.

Agree that the garment is too wide across the shoulders. You definitely should try a smaller size.

Hi mamma2more,
Gingham is a good start but one of the most valuable things I have found when doing this, is to mark clearly i.e. that is strongly/darkly a couple of horizontal and vertical lines on each pattern (fabric) piece when they are still flat. I marked half way between each centre line and the relevant side seam and then two inches on either side of that and then horizontally about two inches above the waist and four inches above that. Also mark the CF/CB!!
It just gives you an easy eyeball look at how the pattern works on your body. And you can put darts and make alterations keeping true to those lines.
Also.....necklines are often a little difficult....just put on a close fitting necklace that you like and use that as a guide.

There is a "SureFit Design Sew Along" on the message boards, post your pictures there if you can, they are a very helpful group. I also encourage you to email your pictures to Glenda at SFD, she is so helpful and very responsive.
