With their 9 for $9.99 sale, I've been buying a bunch (like 30!) of Embroidery Library's Mola designs.
My kitchen remodel is nearly finished and I decided months ago I'd use these designs for kitchen linens. I've gathered a variety of fabrics including osnaburg, buck, and some cotton/linen blends. I can't wait to get started!
Has anyone else stitched these Mola designs? Any ideas on what I might use for funky towel or potholder hooks?

Took the words right out of my mouth. I really like textiles from Latin America- the chunky cotton embroideries, ikats and so on. These are wonderful for the kitchen; Schmammy thanks for sharing a great idea with us. I want to gift my brother and his wife when their kitchen remodel is complete. Will check 1st to see if they like these as much as I do. For my kitchen, I'd go for less primary brights and use deeper fruit tones. I'm looking at my Farmers Market haul from this morning- Bing cherry, Santa Rosa plum, dusky apricot.

I've put the Mola sun on a few shirts for myself and as gifts, always to good reviews. I haven't tried putting it on anything for the kitchen yet, though. But yes, I love their Mola designs.

So? Have you used these designs yet? If so, what thread did you use? And can you post photos? I have them on my wish list and am new to embroidery. I picture them in a heavier matte cotton thread so the motifs are raised and echo traditional embroideries from the region. Thanks for any feedback. I love the sun one too.

I probably should've been born Latin. I was realizing that this morning when something very Mexican happened.

I actually can't live without those. The Quetzal in particular is calling to me, but then they all are!

Edited: OH! I love the sugar skulls from Día de Muertos. I could happily add one of those to every piece of my clothing. On Project Runway, Mondo did screen prints of those and I decided I should be Mexican.

I have used a number of the Hola Mola designs and am thoroughly delighted with results. To date, I've used threads from my poly and rayon stash only. I like your idea about the matte cotton!

I would post pictures but the process on PR is just too cumbersome. (I don't understand why we can't just upload from our files instead of having to move photos to a website first. Am I missing something?)

Here are some pictures (these are embroidery library designs)

As I said earlier, I've done the mola sun many times. It works great n black, white and blue.

The mola macaw I made for my mother and she loves it; I just made one for me -- a Christmas present to myself.
