I heard somewhere (Maybe in the H2O swimwear catalogue?) that nylon holds up better in chlorine than lycra. Does anyone know?

And where can I find good quality swim fabric with lots of choices? Thanks

Correction: I checked and the chlorine-resistant fabric is polyester-based, not nylon or lycra. Still looking for a good source. Any ideas?

This is no help, but the last time I tried to find chlorine resistant swimwear fabric the only sources I could find were bulk prices from Asia. I'd love to hear of another source too.

I'm not sure but www,eclipsetextiles.com.au may be ok. They list themselves as retailers but they also say that their minimum cut is one metre!! They also have a list of stockists.

Sorry, they list themselves as wholesalers.
Then they add that the listed retailers will order I guess on your behalf....see below - taken from their website:

I have a daughter who swims on a swim team and the chlorine will destroy her suits in 3 months. I have tried to find the longer lasting swimsuit fabric and haven't been able. It would be a huge savings to find a source so I could make her suits.

Hi there,

The Rain Shed has poly lycra prints posted on their website. From the homepage, Select Fabrics, Lycra Prints, then scroll down to the Poly blends. You can first order the swatch set of that fabric group.

This is the BEST chlorine resistant fabric I have ever found. Fantastic colours and 100% polyester. I have a swimsuit that is 5 yrs old and still as good as new and I swim in a heated chlorine pool.

When I was looking for swimsuit fabric I searched "speedo fabric" on eBay. After narrowing down to crafts category on the left side, there were over 100 listings. Most were/are sold by seller lycra4sale which I have had great success with. Most of the listings are for multiple yards but I was able to get single yards after contacting the seller and giving the item number of the prints I wanted. They had no problem getting me what I wanted and I had my order within the same week both times. Some of them are prints I saw on speedos when I was at a sporting goods store with my husband. Of the fabrics I ordered I am sure that they will hold up, and they were cut generously.

I buy all my swimwear fabric from Ann'sFabric..The fabric and choices are great...Some I believe come from Swim Queen. They have a website WWW.ANNSFABRIC.COM and do a large on line business as well as their family owned and operated store. They are in Hamilton Ontario, Canada, and are very helpful.
