I am attempting to save time when sewing next muslin for a button front shirt. right now I am fitting shoulders & upper back. Should I cut the attached front facing too or just fold it back? I am waiting to do associated sleeve alterations until I get this part.

You can omit the front facing. Just make sure you have an overlap at the front so you can pin it together. i.e. don't cut along the CF line. Instead cut along the line which will end up being the edge of the front - I expect it's the first fold line.
That is what I ended up doing. I found I had decreased the front armhole a bit too much but will work on that. The shoulder seam seems to be where it is supposed to lie for a change. I need to look up the easiest way to decrease the shoulder width 1/2" as I don't really want a drop shoulder shirt. It is boxy though so I only had to add length in the bottom instead of above the waist & above the bust.
