560, looks like the 580, 9mm and can be bought for sewing only or having the option of the embroidery unit.

I wonder when these machines will make their debut.
I'm curious about the L220.

Thanks for those links!

I don't know if that 560 was already in the works, or if it's evidence that Bernina listens to customers. The 580 only came with the embroidery module in the US. No option to buy without for those who might want a 9mm sewing machine but not embroidery, in a regular-sized machine. So glad the 560 returns that option. And in beautiful silver! Now if only they would again offer a 5mm machine with optional embroidery...

Only too bad it doesn't have dual feed. That's what we need next, Bernina dual feed on a regular-sized machine.

I know it bothers a lot of folks that Bernina is rolling out new models when problems with the 7 series and with updates for the 8 series are not resolved. But they've got to stay viable as a company. I just really hope these new machines are bug-free. If the 880 performs as it's designed to perform, I'm sure some 7 series owners would be willing to trade-up out of their problem 7 series, at a reasonable cost.

Now what about the longarms?!?

If Bernina puts out machines that don't work right the first time then they will be no longer known for putting out quality machines. Make sure it works right the first time. I should not spend thousands of dollars for a machine and have to wait for updates before it works as it should.

The L220 looks in the body just like my 2 thread cover and chain, which I love. it is a little tank and stitches beautifully! But ahhh, a three needle option. Tempting! VERY tempting. I have no doubt it will work just as well.
If I wanted to be very spoilt I would leave one set on chain and use the other for cover...
now that would be spoiling myself!!!

I also saw on one of these links that Bernina was introducing a 16 needle embroidery machine.

I hope the long arms and this embroidery machine will be new machines to the market full of Bernina quality and design.

I certainly don't need or even want another machine but what I'm interested in is Version 7 software! My dealer will give a early bird discount on that so I might jump on it.

At first I thought no V7. But what I'm hearing on the yahoo group is intriguing. Supposed to be easier to work in, and has loads of new features. Not sure I'd use all of them, as I don't presently use my V6 to it's fullest potential either. But, I'll have to investigate more and see how much better/easier it is. To me, the software is easy, it's just so packed with features that it takes a long time, and using it constantly for it to stick with me!

I wonder what the other differences are between the 560 and 580? When I first saw it, I thought it was the 5mm version (basically a new 630) with optional embroidery, until she said 9mm in the video.

You can buy the 560 as a sewing-only with embroidery option. Bernina's version of the Pfaff Creative Performance. With the 580 you have to buy the whole taco.
