I know towns everywhere have "Art Walks" - ours is the first Friday of the month. Rain or shine.

I have been lucky - Ive had gallery shows and the restaurant show but, I have never set up for the Art Walk outside, on my own before. But, I did it tonight! You guys have seen all my work already - but I think the place I used to hang the quilts was interesting.

There is a square in front of the Art Museum where lots of venders set up their things. Across the street there is a eye sore of a building that the city cant seem to force the owner to fix.

Last year when I ran for city council the building was part of the reason I ran - Im that angry about it.

So, I decided to become a quilt graffiti artist. I hung quilts all over the messy building. It was great fun.

Lots of people were out today - it was in the 90's (HOT for Portland) and I was trying to sell quilts

Anyhow - here are some pics of my renegade art show.









I took the pics before it got busy. I had a great time out talking about quilts. People came by who had a real interest they took cards. I met some people who are quilt obsessed - too!

Do you guys have "Art Walk" ? -

Wow you made that building Shine for today - I hope you not only generated some business, but now you know some more obsessive quilters (well beside us! heheh)

I will for sure look into this in Tucson - they offer more Art and Craft faires, and 1 lady who's seen my quilts said I MUST enter 1 in a show (scaring the bejeeppers outta me)... but an Art walk would be FUN to set up and talk quilts.

Thanks for another great idea

Here, it is a fun event - people fill the streets!

Galleries open and serve wine.

A carnival feeling has started - there are usually some fire breathing kids and some juggling fire, bands play and it is just good fun.

If course there are people who hate the whole carnival feeling and want it only open to galleries. No street performers or venders.

Im always a more is more sort of person.

loved your quilts. we have an "airing of the quilts", quilts hung from the balconies of old buildings, down the streets of a little town. great atmosphere, full of music and fun things to do.

We don't have an "Art Walk," but it is a great idea. Your quilts look wonderful all together like that. People must really have enjoyed it.

We have art walks here, and they are fun, and lively too, with food, and music, and I get to see people I don't get to see on a regular basis. It a real social event.
I love what you did to the building with your quilts, and they look good there.

There is an art walk in my daughter's home town (45 mins from us). It is a big deal! The kids have a pet parade (kids and pets dress up), live music, carnival atmosphere, lots of food - really lots of fun for all ages. Not to mention the art is beautiful!!
