I want to know where to buy nice soft linen like what JJill sells in their clothes! I just left their store and am ashamed to say I bought a pair of pants and a shirt...knowing good and well I could make the darn things! But the problem is, is the fabric. I was talking with the sales clerk and telling her that I sew and I find it so frustrating that I can't buy this type of fabric...at least in my town. If I buy online, how do I know it is soft? If I order a swatch, by the time I get the swatch and then decide to order, most times it is gone by then. This has happened before to me! Glad I was able to buy a little bit of linen when I was in SF for the PR weekend...but it still isn't like what JJill has.
Sorry, I guess I'm venting..thanks for letting me blow off steam

Have you tried softened linen from Fabrics-store.com? I haven't used them yet, but several people have and they like them.

No, I haven't. I'll take a look, thanks! I did just go online and bought 2 yards of a lightweight linen from Gorgeous Fabrics...it says it is very soft. I'm giving it a try!

Linen gets softer over time if you wash it and not dry clean.

I really like the softened line from Fabrics-store.com. They have several different weights as well. Reasonably priced and the quality is fine.

I, too, am a big fan of the J Jill linen line, and am currently working on a tunic top with linen I bought from FabricMart in March. It's got a really nice hand, and I'd recommend it

I regularly buy quality linen at Fabric Mart:
http://www.fabricmartfabrics.com/home.php

Great quality, sales and prices.

Where do you live in LA (Louisiana?) If you lived in LA, Cal. I assume you would be able to find decent fabric.

I have way too many yards to count, and I will never use them up, but I will die trying!

I live between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. I have been down to promenade fabrics in Nola a few times and he does have lots of linen, but not the kind I am looking for. I may have to try him again since its been a few years since I was down there. Where in Louisiana are you? Thanks for the link.
