On my old laptop I've a photo of a pretty lady wearing an 8-panel circle skirt ALL made (and yes I chevroned every french seam), and then she had me make her a matching bodice OhMyGod You can believe when she walks into a Faire, she is SEEN all over :-)

I still have tons of this left! Maybe it would make a great Harliquin border without the need to cut tiny pieces for your bug quilt?? Happy Happy Colors all hehehe

:-Debbie (Crazy Cat lady is only a bit of my craziness!!

LOL! I would LOVE a picture of that wild outfit!

For my harlequin border I was thinking of a pieced border like this:

I want to be able to use the fabric I have been sent. It's not so much that the prints are crazy, it's that it's a crazy mixture. Generally speaking you wouldn't pick pastel flowers and bright bugs and bulldogs on motorcycles etc....all for the same quilt.

So I need to get creative in how they can all be used harmoniously together!

I DO have a GORGEOUS!!! lovely piece of blue Hawaiian from Learn, I am itching to use it as the border, but then I won't be able to use all the others.

Decisions, decisions.....

My avatar quilt has a strip in it like this. Simply flying geese I sewed into diamonds. I like it much better than the normal geese. Gave it character and some flair.

I sent you enough fabric for 2 quilts, dear. Think about it. You can make a 2nd one and use the blue hibiscus fabric on it. If you can work it into the bug quilt, ok. If not, make another quilt...........

I am a Quilter at heart. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors. Recently I have discovered I enjoy doing applique. I love making pictures. Using a sewing machine is much easier than counted cross stitch or oil painting for me. I enjoy landscape quilting as well. I am working on my first applique project in the spring of 2014.

hmmm 5" squares - what if you did a solid sashing like the Falling Charms, so each bug square got it's own Highlight?? Then you could use the lovely Hawaii fabric on the border?

I have loads of yardage in White (108"), Black 44/45", Tan and Red with me hehehe Sure will help get some fabric OUT of the trailer so I can buy MORE when I visit the Missouri Quilt shop in October

Ohh also the cowboy quilt just finished used Big squares with sashing.... ideas, ideas, ideas..... !

What say you?

;-Deb

If I do the harlequin border I'll need 6.5" squares.

I think black would be GREAT, I love how it makes colors pop and someone sent me a great fabric with bright squares on a black background.

I'll help you out by taking some fabric for you so you can get some more.

LOL!
