Hi - anyone live in The Villages FL? Thinking of moving there & would like to hear what you think. My husband is going to visit soon so would be glad to get any feedback. Thanks.

It's about 60 miles north of Orlando & about 30 miles south of Ocala. It's ironic that you replied since I'm in WA state also.

I do not live in The Villages but know many who have visited. It is a very social community. It is a city within itself ..where everyone rides around in golf carts. Those who do live there love it! Again, very social. Parties galore. I live in Naples, FL. and love it here except for the fact I am limited in what I sew because of the warm weather. That's not a complaint..I just miss sewing with fall fabrics.

My in-laws looked at getting a place there. They didn't like the reception from the agent there, so they ended up at a Del Webb community nearby called Stone Creek. If you travel down there, check them out as well.

How does this question have anything to do with patterns and notions?
Shouldn't it be moved to miscellaneous?

Maybe the original poster had a "notion" to move?

Ah hon! It's an honest mistake.

The mods always take care of it anyway.

Is that a retirement community? Do you live in one now?

Mine is just a general comment about retirement communities. My in-laws moved to such a community in the mid-90s, different state, different developer. They were miserable. Once the initial enthusiasm about golf carts had worn off, they missed having younger people around who didn't discuss their illnesses on a daily basis. They missed the laughter and noise of children and school buses. After my FIL died after only a couple of years, my MIL became very lonely. Nobody wanted to socialize with her anymore because nobody liked to be reminded of death. She moved to a "regular" neighborhood again.

I am sorry if this is not the feedback you're looking for.

Claudia
